ABOUT BCO

BCO Volleyball Club is a registered non-profit youth volleyball club based in North Vancouver, BC. It was founded in 1978 by Canadian Men's National Team athlete and certified Indoor/Outdoor International referee, Mike Rockwell, and Handsworth Secondary School teacher, Neil Salkus. Mike and Neil recognized a need for a grassroots program on the North Shore to help young athletes develop the skills and experience necessary to compete at the university level and beyond. Their dream was to help as many players as possible pursue and reach their goals of one day competing at the Olympics. Based on this, they decided on the name BCO (British Columbia Olympic) Volleyball Club.

BCO’s primary focus is player development and team success follows as a consequence. The vast majority of all BCO Elite graduates have secured placement at a post-secondary institution in Canada or the USA, and eighteen graduates have played for our National Team, including current Canadian National team member Kiera Van Ryk. Many BCO Alumni have played professionally in various international venues as well. Check out our Alumni Page for a full list of our alumni success stories.
